*Bihar plans Employment Melas to check mass exodus*

*Patna:* The Government of Bihar has chalked out a road map to check mass
exodus of educated unemployed youth from the state.

As a part of the exercise, Employment Melas would be organised at all the
nine divisional headquarters of the state in which large number of private
companies are expected to participate.

A detailed programme to this effect has already been sent to all the
concerned officials.

"The idea is to make available various choice of job seekers in one camp
itself. If this scheme becomes successful, it would help to a great extent
in solving the problem of unemployment in the educated youths in this
state," a labour department official said.

The Labour Resource Management Department was roping in support of the
private sector companies of the country to participate in the mela.

Lack of employment opportunities in this investment-starved state is the
major cause for large scale exodus of people.

Bihar has gradually emerged as one of the most important labour feeder state
for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat and Maharastra, catering to the needs of
agricultural labours as well as IT professionals in these states.

But the rising incidents of violence against immigrants from Bihar in many
parts of country, especially in Maharastra, have become a matter of great
concern for the state government.

The poor infrastructure in the state has been the main reason behind the
non-industrialisation of this state.

Despite the state government's efforts to improve the situation and attract
investment, it has failed to click.

Out of more than 100 proposals of investments of Rs 40,000 crore, approved
by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), no investment has so far
been made.
