we should do all that is needed for getting termination of all officials who are involved in corruption. Country has many honest people who are interesting in leading pious lives and working for salaries only and not for endangering their eternal wellbeing through partaking food earned through bribes. We also need to educate children to boycott food that is bought with money earned through illegitimate means.Prohibition of corruption is part of inter-faith common and we need to just more vigilant. This is an intro to corruption in Indian Legislatures. Add to that he has a White Paper on how quality Education is almost barred by the System of Corruption in Higher circles of Govt. Administration. Pl. read the letter here and the "(No) Approval of Aravali Institute of Management" by AICTE in my today's posting in http://sharmavn. blogspot. com/ Some of us certainly believe and desire to help our people to help by setting up Institutions of Learning etc. Govt wants to privatise everything on the face of it but backs ourt when the chips are down. It is clear from these two msg that Money Making has been provatised under Govt patronage. One has to just see the declarations filed by the candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in some of the states of India, including in Rajasthan. We had Magsaysay awardee Aruna Roy and her team of 100 persons in our Institute just day before yesterday. The data shows that the wealth of these candidates has risen shockingly by upto 1000% in just five years they have been in power. This is despite the fact that the declarations hide more than they reveal. It has been made repeatedly clear to me by AICTE bosses that the approval cannot be given to our Institute without payment of bribes, irrespective of all the merits we have. Our application for approval has already been pending with AICTE now for eight years. If AICTE sees any merit in quality then what prevents them from granting us the approval? During the last eight years, around 800 faculty members and senior alumni of IIMs & IITs and CEOs of leading corporates, apart from many distinguished persons of India, have visited our Institute and have seen for themselves the highest standards we maintain for the quality of management education imparted by our Institute. I am clear - we will never pay any bribes, irrespective of the consequences.. We are in the education of business and NOT in the business of education. Moreover, as per us, education by definition, is based on ethics. I am not afraid of FIR or closing down of the Institute. By lodging FIR, the government and AICTE would only be exposing themselves and I would also get yet another opportunity to expose them further publicly. In closing down of the Institute, I would not lose but the nation, State of Rajasthan and the people would lose a top quality management institute. In fact, there should be an FIR filed against successive AICTE Chairmen including the present one who have granted approvals to bogus and sub-standard management institutions, thereby violating the AICTE Act. Also AICTE Act provides for winding up of AICTE if it does not ensure qualitative growth of technical education in the country. The fact is that AICTE has ensured growth of only sub-standard institutions in the country, it is a fit case for winding up of AICTE. We plan to take up this matter in this manner soon through media, public opinion and judiciary.
