Dear All,
I received a few comments, observations etc on the Bill from different
members. I have decided to issue all such msg in a bulletin form every
morning as long as it is required. The first exercise has been done today
which are given below.

I request members to keep sending their comments, observations and report of
activities in their area with a copy to Sri Ramesh Patnaik and Dr. Anil
Sadgopal so that quick action, wherever required, can be taken.

I feel we should work on
1. getting rid of the clause "as deemed appropriate by law" - or some such
escape clause - that is found in the bill and
2. Reviving the spirit of the Supreme court order to make the compulsory
education upto the age of 14 instead of 6 to 14.

We can not expect the President to deny assent to the whole bill; but may
expect to influence for these minimum amendments.

Dear Dr V.N.Sharma,
Vanakkam.
I am an educational activist in Tamilnadu with real concern for education
for the masses.
I concur with the contents of the drafts re: Public Hearing and letter to
the President.
I do not have much faith in Sibal and Singh whose agenda is not for the
poor.
We have to pressurise Sonia if we have to stop the President from giving her
assent to the Bill.
Even tho' I have not been keeping good health, I rushed to Karaikudi and
Madurai to participate in meetings on RTE Bill. People are clear and the
Govt is only not.
WILL YOU KINDLY SEND ME A COPY OF THE BILL, AS PASSED IN THE PARLIAMENT?
I have not been able to access it on the net.
With regards to you and Prof Anil,
SSR
