I am a little apprehensive about acting too hastily on plans for School House Lane.  Based on experiences here and elsewhere around the country, wouldn't asking for the 3-foot shoulders to be combined on the up-hill side of the street to act as a 6-foot-wide "climbing lane" make a lot of sense?  I agree, though, that a "patterned" shoulder anywhere would be a bad idea from a cyclist's point of view.  Are we talking "mini" rumble strips?!
