I forwarded Karen's comments to SEPTA customer service >From: "Karen A. There is an arbitrary two bikes per train limit on weekdays, which limits the number of commuters who may use the train for part of their commute. On the R6, which runs parallel to the Schuylkill trail, a major bike path, I have seen bikes refused entry to a train since there were already bikes on board. The train itself was not full of passengers and there would have been plenty of room for another bike. They then force bikes to the back of the last car, whether that area has extra space for bikes or not, rather than using all available large spaces. > >I have planned my bike commute schedule to avoid using SEPTA, which I had originally planned to use this year, because I'm not going to sit and wait 30 minutes for the next train if they decide to refuse me entry. (I commute from Center City to Collegeville via the R6 to Norristown Transportation Ctr)
