The
city of Philadelphia is looking for hundreds of volunteers for two professional
cycling races that will come to town next month. The First Union Liberty Classic for women and the First Union USPRO, the national road cycling championship for men, will be held in Philadelphia on June 9th. Hundreds of volunteers are needed for security, to check race equipment and credentials but particularly to help make the race safe for everyone by keeping spectators off the course. Chris Spaeth is an event coordinator: "It helps if you have a cycling background, but we're going to give everyone a little training background beforehand to give them an idea of what to expect and sort of do's and don't. But as a volunteer you do get great viewing of the event because you're kind of on the inside in certain areas." Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. If you want to sign up call 1-866-4-CYCLING.
