New Trail Opening - Saturday June 1 is the opening day for the
Perkiomen/Schuylkill River Trail Connection. Montgomery County is planning
an opening ceremony. We will provide the details as soon as we get them.

Help and Donations - Computer expertise needed, Our Linux based firewall has
been down for some time now and we desperately a volunteer with Linux
experience to get us back online. We also need a another computer. If you
can help send us an email at this address.

SEPTA update -
Thanks to the 187 people at the BCP Swap meet who signed the petition
supporting our efforts to preserve reasonable Regional Rail Access.
As you know SEPTA plans to restrict bicycles to 1 bike car at all times.
Fun Fact: - SEPTA rules require conductors to open all doors at Center City
Stations also at least two cars are required to open at all times.

Bike on Bus route reliability has been suffering; Routes 77 and 118 have
seen buses without racks recently. A driver who left me blowing in the wind
recently on Cottman Avenue told me that all the 30 foot buses are in the
shop.

Meanwhile about 30 more buses with bike racks have arrived with 70 more due
in the next two months. SEPTA should have 180 buses with bike racks by the
end of July. Funding has been approved for 500 more bike racks, Due to the
dispatching problems with the existing routes, the Bicycle Coalition may ask
SEPTA to equip buses by depot rather than bus type.

New Bike Lane paving starting soon - Several key routes are expected to
paved this year including the notorious 5th St tunnel (burying the trolley
tracks) Spruce St from 34-38th, Baltimore Ave, Torresdale Av and the Walnut
St Bridge.

Bike to the Ball Game - Thanks to Mike McGettigan, the staff at Trophy Bikes
and the Camden Riversharks for leading the first monthly Bike to the Ball
Game ride to Campbells Field. The ball park is a gem in a gorgeous setting
that the Phillies stadium could not possibly match. The night ride return
over the Ben Franklin Bridge is not to be missed. Each half inning is marked
by audience participation events such as sumo wrestling and shopping cart
races. As for the Riversharks, well they lost 1-0 to the Somerset (NJ)
Patriots in a yawner. But that's not the point now is it, you can always
turn around and watch the sun set instead.
