Subject: FW: Proposed Action Call to Bombay Members

To all Bombay Bicycle Club members:
Action Alert
The Bicycling Community Page (Darin Burliegh) reports that Dane County Parks
will consider imposing a TRAIL USER FEE for the recently built Capital City
Trail, which cuts a scenic path along the southern edge of Madison. Many of
you may have enjoyed this path since its opening in 2000.
Click the link below to learn more about the recent public meeting in which
Mr. Burleigh spoke in protest of this fee.
http://danenet.danenet.org/bcp/cc_funding.html
To add your voice to the discussion about this fee, please contact one or
both of the following people:
Ken LePine, Dane County Parks Director, 246-3895 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Jim Mueller, Dane County Parks Planner, 246-3893 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
You may want to point out that:
a.. The path provides not only recreation, but transportation, for its
users. Discouraging the use of alternative transportation means that are
inherently healthy and environmentally friendly is not in the best interests
of the citizens of Dane County.
b.. The path provides a much-needed safe alternative to riding on roadways
for families and bicycle commuters.
c.. Imposing a fee on the Capital City Trail is inconsistent with the
management of other bike paths and recreation areas in the city.
Thank you for your time and energy.
