Bikies,
The Pedestrian-Bicycle-Motor Vehicle Commission meeting is TUESDAY,
July 24, 2001, 5:00 p.m. in Conference Room 260, Madison Municipal
Building, 215 Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard. The following agenda
items may be of interest to people on this list.

F.6. Special Presentations: Climate Protection Plan

H.10. Approval of Plans and Specifications for Femrite Drive
Construction. This item was tabled in 1999. The current plans call for a
4-lane road with bike lanes but is only half of the project proposed in
1999. The part to be made 4-lanes is the busiest stretch (7900-16400
vehicles/day) from East Broadway to just past Agricultural Drive. The
stretch from Agricultural Drive to the interstate will not be reconstructed
at this time.

H.11. Park St. and West Washington Avenue Reconstruction Plans. West
Washington Avenue from Park St. to Reagent St. would be reconstructed in
2002. Park St. from W. Washington Avenue to Reagent St. would be
reconstructed in 2003. The Park St. reconstruction would narrow (that's
right, narrow) the street from 6-lanes to 4-lanes and add bike lanes to be
consistent with the street cross section north and south of the part to be
reconstructed. As a result, the pedestrian crossing at Reagent street is
shortened from 96 feet to 86 feet. W. Washington Avenue would be
reconstructed pretty much as is. However, the free-flow or flying right
from West Washington to Proudfit St. would be eliminated (that's right,
eliminated).
