Title: RE: [Bikies] RE: gettin' that ol' bike religion
As Tim correctly points out, the Southwest path is a good way to go too.

Its a great trail, but its actually not my favorite commuter route, because of the "Missing Link" into downtown.  It pops out right by Randall Stadium, and you must still content traffic in some spots where they don't seem to appreciate us, Regent Street, Park Street, University Ave perhaps.  Its funny, University has a bike lane, and his heavily trafficked by bicycles, yet I still would say due to motorists high speeds, the bicyclists and pedestrians not always obeying the rules of the road, it feels like the worst of all worlds: it has all the unpredictability of a multiuse path with all the rudeness and tension of motor vehicle roadways.  I'd say the SW path, the arboretum, and Blackhawk are great ways to get downtown, but your friend's best choice might depend upon which side of downtown she's traveling to.

Wouldn't it be easier to take Raymond to the new SW path and then down that way to downtown?

I lived a little further down Muir Field Road and worked at GEF1, one block
from the capital a few years back.  Here's the route I took.
