It seems like it would be a good idea for bike advocacy groups in each
community (maybe under the BFW) to start collecting, in standardized
format, data about crappy bike/car/truck/dog incidents. It would be great
if, somehow, someone's clone (or a graduate student) could then compile
this data so that it would be available when lobbying, recommending
facility improvements, educating, etc.

If police are not cooperating, having statistics showing x number of
incidents in a particular district where the law was not enforced or
incorrectly enforced might be helpful. You know how people love statistics.

Perhaps voluntary bicycle incident reporting forms could be available at
local bike shops, in schools at universities and work places, at libraries
and on the web (downloadable .pdf files are pretty easy.) They could be
highlighted during bike rides and events, education seminars, other events
. . .

Such data might be able to target "hot spots" for legal or advocacy action
and "hot incidents" for better bike and motorist education.

Just a thought . . . always trying to make more work for others ;)
