Instead of going in against the fees (which I am against), how about suggesting ways to cut costs so that fees could not be justified?
** Reduce Mowing - this I assume is the major cost. The mow width is too wide and the number of cuts per year is too many. Two cuts maximum per year is more than enough. ** Begin an Adopt-A-Trail program. There are regular users (bike/skaters/walkers) schools and neighbors that I am sure would be pleased to help out. For example they could pick up trail debris, keeps rest areas clean, report hazards and report maintenance problems. ** The suggestion of the county patroling to assist users is not necessary and an unneeded cost. I have never seen a service patrol on any trail I ever used, unless you count DNR fee collectors. ** Any other thoughts out there? Positive alternatives rather than just being against something always helps. Are there any other thoughts out there?
