I contacted Louise Goldstein who is the County Parks volunteer coordinator. She is very excited about the idea of some sort of Friends of the CCT group. Most of routine maintenance, mowing, snow removal, fixing bridges and so forth would be done by staff but there are things volunteers could do e.g. plantings, removing invasive weeds and so forth. A friends group could also raise $ for things like kiosks, benches signs. The route is scenic but there really isn't much information on the natural areas people are riding through so putting together information like that would be helpful I think.
Whether work on the trail could be bartered for a pass is an issue I didn't bring up. Part of her job is to help groups like this get off of the ground.
