I saw this article on the web, and just for kicks I went to the discussion list. Sadly, although some people understood the moral issues involved in using up our scarce resources, many others had the attitude: "Butt out of my life" or "I'm not going to drive a big honking SUV to protect my family from the other big SUVs on the road." (This attitude I have labeled the new Cold War/MAD.) And some pretty other scary attitudes for people who claim to follow Christian values. But.... there is hope. Here is one response I found: "Jesus would not drive any kind of vehicle that costs thousands of dollars. He lived in poverty and told us to give our money to the poor. He would walk - or maybe ride an old second-hand bike. I applaud your campaign - but you are not being aggressive enough. We need to get Americans out of their cars and on to their feet - or bikes." "Never doubt that a small group of dedicated individuals working together can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Mead _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/bikies
