It always astounds me that the dim bulbs and other opponents of multimodal transportation ever even mention the waiting for the trains to pass. Anyone who has ever seen the commuter trains whiz by in Chicago and other places know this is a non-issue. As Rich points out, it assuredly less than one waits for the average stoplight. (Is this Mike Roach the same guy who keeps wanting to drive his own car around picking up passengers and call it a taxi service?)
As to bikes on transit, I've noticed that many transit systems allow bikes on trains EXCEPT during rush hour, which is, of course, when many people would like to have their bike on the train. So we should make sure that we're accommodated at all times. >>> Robbie Webber <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 01/22/03 08:48AM >>> At 08:33 AM 01/22/2003 -0600, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: >Will the new rail plans include plans for Bikes on Trains? I'm pretty sure that bikes will be allowed on any transit system in Madison. Several people have repeatedly asked that question at public comment sessions. The answer has always been, "Of course we'll make sure bikes can be accommodated. You guys would kill us if we didn't!" See what being a well-organized, persistent, pushy group will do? Bikes on transit is becoming the norm across the country. I cannot imagine a new system being introduced in the greater Madison area that would ignore that multi-modal connection.
