Bikes on transit is becoming the norm across the country. I cannot imagine
a new system being introduced in the greater Madison area that would ignore
that multi-modal connection.

Be aware that many rail transit systems do not allow bicycles on board during peak
periods, and/or have restrictions on which cars they can use and/or how many bicycles
per car, etc. On the other hand, some have special bike racks built into the cars,
and others have special cars just for bikes. Many that started out with permit
requirements have subsequently dropped them.

See http://www.bikemap.com/trans.html for links to transit systems that allow bicycles
and what their rules are.
