In the Homes section in today's (Sunday)
Wisconsin State Journal, the feature article (by Pamela Cotant)
discusses a major expansion of a 1929 house in the Bay Creek
neighborhood.

Selected quotes:

'... yard space was actually gained because the two detached
garages were taken down ...' [ and replaced with a single
one-car garage].

'While building a one-car garage is unusual these days, ..
they only have one car .... they didn't want to take up
more yard room.'

'Rob takes the bus or bikes to work and Becky is a stay-at-home
mom right now'

'"My wife would rather have a garden," Rob said'.

Purists will still insist that this is one car too many,
but its a pleasant change from the the '3-car-garage-with-
attached-bedroom' that is so common these days.
