NEWS RELEASE:

The Madison Pedestrian-Bicycle-Motor Vehicle Commission will hold a public 
hearing to get ideas on projects the City should undertake in 2004-2006 to 
improve conditions for pedestrians and bicyclists.  The hearing will be held at 
6 p.m. on April 29, 2002, in Room 260 Madison Municipal Building, 215 Martin 
Luther King Jr. Boulevard. [NOTE: If you need an interpreter, materials in 
alternate formats or other accommodations to access this meeting, please 
contact the Traffic Engineering Division at 608-266-4761 or TDD 267-9623. 
Please do so no later than 9:00 a.m. on the Thursday preceding the meeting so 
that proper arrangements can be made.]

The Commission is seeking ideas and proposals to be presented at the hearing.  
Written comments will also be accepted through May 6, 2003, and should be 
addressed to the Pedestrian-Bicycle-Motor Vehicle Commission, c/o City Traffic 
Engineering Division, P O Box 2986, Madison WI 53701-2986.

The results of the public hearing and written comments will be used to develop 
a list of projects to be recommended for inclusion in the 2004-2006 work 
program.  Projects could include constructing pedestrian and bicycle 
facilities, implementing public education programs, or law enforcement 
initiatives to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.  

A progress report on the current work program will be presented at the meeting.
