forwarded from John Coleman, who has been instrumental in bringing the Missing
Link this far; he (and the city and the Rail Commissioner's office) need to
hear our support at or before this meeting:

There is a public hearing about a path crossing of the railroad tracks at Doty
Street.

The meeting is April 10 9:30am, at the Rail Commissioner's office, 610 North
Whitney Way, Suite 110
Attend if you can, and most importantly;

Letters or e-mails to the Commission of Railroads are needed to insure that
this important crossing is approved by the Commission. When you write a letter
send a copy to the City.

The bike/pedestrian crossing of the tracks at Doty St. is important for getting
the Missing Link path through the Findorf Yards area on the way south to Monona
Bay. A picture of the location of the proposed crossing can be seen at:

more information about the path, including maps can be found at:
http://www.lic.wisc.edu/bike.htm

There are some historic buildings on the west side of the tracks that limit the
space for a path so there is a need to cross to the east side of the tracks as
the path heads toward Monona Bay. The cinder-block buildings on the east side
of the tracks are scheduled to be torn down during development of the area by
Findorf. Please emphasize that the path should follow the edge of the rail
right-of-way to Northshore Drive regardless of which side of the tracks it is
on.
