Re: Bike/Ped path crossing at West Doty St.

Dear Mr. Wood,
As Madison grows more intelligently, that is, with more density, mixed uses, mixed incomes and mixed ages, the need for more sane transportation such as bicycles and walking will be increasingly apparent. Indeed, bicycling and walking are the modes that make central cities work.

The "Missing Link" path is critical for making bicycle and pedestrian transportation work in downtown Madison. The demand is obviously there, the density is being built. Let's make it work.

It is important that this path be built in the proper manner to provide maximum safety for all users. It is important that the path follow the edge of the rail right-of-way to Northshore Drive regardless of which side of the tracks it is on.

As the most recent city of Madison mayoral election makes clear, we are headed toward a truly multi-modal world. We hope that you will do your part in the creation of a great city for bicycling and walking.

Sincerely,
Michael D. Barrett and Pamela S. Barrett
