I quote from the article:

City Traffic Engineer David Dryer also has concerns.

In an e-mail to Cieslewicz, Dryer estimated the mayor's plan would displace about
15,000 to 22,000 vehicles each work day on the isthmus portion of East Washington
Avenue - about one-third of the segment's capacity.

[Bob sez: then Dryer notes a couple of the benefits of doing so]

Those drivers would be forced to seek alternative routes or change their travel times
or mode of transport, Dryer said in an interview.

[Bob sez: yet in a puzzling response, Dryer apparently forgets what he just said, at
least if the reporter had the sequence right]

When asked if he saw any traffic upsides to Cieslewicz's plan, Dryer's answer was
brief.

"None that I can see," he said.

------

None??? Didn't he just finish saying that it would give people a reason to change
their travel times or modes of transport?

Even without the aesthetic and safety benefits, that alone sounds like an endorsement
of Cieslewicz's suggestion, no? :-)

Now go back to lunch!

Now go have a beer,

Bob Paolino
