Here is a bit more from the Wausau road-building story Alison posted 
yesterday (which is well worth the read, btw).

Any ideas how to help these folks? At the least, this seems like good 
material for a Wi State Journal article.

Thanks for your interest. 

At this point we don't know what to do, mainly because the city still seems
to be in the planning stages.  They, the mayor mainly, threw this out there
quickly without much study.  We're hoping cost, wetlands, something makes
this project too costly to do.  Any suggestions?  I'd like to think there
were legal avenues, but I don't think so.  I've thought about burning a
city flag on the city hall steps.

Susan heard about it at work in the middle of a surgical procedure. 
One of the anesthesiologists said he heard the city planned on 
putting a road through the middle of our house. Susan laughed, and 
said that was a good joke. Sick, but good. The doctor didn't laugh, 
so Susan got nervous.
