Greetings from Wisconsin Walks! Two pedestrian safety workshops are on the
agenda at the Governor's Highway Safety Conference, which is happening later
than usual this year, August 21-22, 2003 in Appleton Wisconsin. The two
workshops are:

Thursday, August 21, 2003: Safe Routes to School...A Healthy Transportation
Program for Kids, Families & Schools. Each participant will receive a copy
of the new NHTSA Safe Routes to School booklet (Catalog #DOT HS 809 497,
September 2002).

Friday, August 22, 2003: The Power of the Walking Audit-Improving
Walkability & Pedestrian Safety. Each participant will learn how to conduct
a walking audit.

In addition, we will have a computer demonstration of the new Federal
Highway Administration "Pedestrian Safety Campaign Planner" public service
announcements and other materials now available to run in regional media
markets in Wisconsin. Wisconsin Walks has invited WisDOT BOTS staff to
strategize with us about the most effective way to use this campaign to
improve pedestrian safety in Wisconsin.

A pdf version of the conference registration brochure is attached, or you
can access it below:

I apologize to anyone who receives this notice twice. I am working on
mailing list management. Thanks for your patience!

Hope to see you in Appleton!

Warmly, Kit Keller, Organizer, Wisconsin Walks
