See note from the mayor and press conference details below, hope to see
you there!!!
Sorry for any doubles, this one has more details. Brenda
Greetings supporters of affordable housing:
Tomorrow we will formally launch a community-wide discussion on
the housing crisis in Madison and the dire need for affordable housing
in Madison.
I plan to unveil my draft of a strong inclusionary zoning
ordinance. My goal is to create more affordable housing, for both
renters and home owners, and to disperse this housing throughout the
city. My ordinance will require that any development of five or more
units include 15% affordable units. Our ordinance will require including
people with incomes as low as 40% of the county median income and will
keep the housing affordable into the future-that's a major and important
distinction from a competing
industry proposal.
I invite and encourage any supporters of mandatory
inclusionary zoning to join me at a press conference Thursday to show
the STRONG
community backing behind our plans. This was the top issue in April's
election and it's time to act.
I also urge you to sign your name to a growing list of
supporters for the strongest possible ordinance-if you'd like to do so,
send your names and addresses to my communications director at

Let's show that diverse people from many groups and walks of
life support mandatory inclusionary zoning. Thank you for joining me!
