In Bikies digest, Vol 1 #585 - 10 msgs, numerous people overquote and top-post to an
atrocious level, but did manage to keep HTML clutter out, and Chuck resurrects the
"accident" language thread:

What about this bit of language bias: drive v. ride?

You drive a car if you are behind the wheel and operating the controls. You ride in a
car if you are a non-driving passenger. You ride a bus, you ride a train, you ride a
plane...

Why let motor-vehiclists have a monopoly on "driving"? I drove to work today--I drove
my bicycle. I certainly didn't "ride" it--that would be passive, and I surely put
physical effort into driving my bicycle to work today, certainly more effort than
those who were driving their cars, vans, trucks, and sub-Urban Assault Vehicles.

Now go have a beer,

Bob Paolino

A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation.
Q: Why is top posting frowned upon?
