One can just cite the burning of fossil fuels and air pollution as
another reason why ATV use of trails should be restricted on public,
federal land. That's what I intend to do. I would make the same argument
for snowmobile use of the trails. The snowmobile interests will soon be
gone anyway, as snow cover diminishes on the Wisconsin landscape, due to
a warming climate..

As for BFW's mission, being a member myself, I would vote that BFW's
mission include helping to fight the big fight against global warming,
because it most certainly has adverse ramifications for bicycling
outdoors, particularly in summer. As a matter of fact, I believe it
should now be the mission of every organization to include promoting
things and actions by their organization and others (within their areas
of responsibility or interest), that reduce fossil fuel burning (much
like all organizations seem to promote recycling now days, which is good.

When it comes right down to it, preserving the ability of Earth to
maintain temperatures hospitable for life is something all organizations
and all people ought to have a salient interest in seeing achieved.
