Am I just noticing the articles more, or are there way more traffic fatalities in the 
city than in past years?

Here is another article about someone hitting a stationary object late at night and 
killing himself. The phrase, "speed and alcohol were factors", is all too common in 
these stories - pretty much every one.

Driver Crashes Into Park Street Pole, Dies

MADISON, Wis. -- An overnight traffic accident in Madison took the life of one person.

The 23-year-old Madison man was killed after running into a pole at the intersection 
of South Park Street and Haywood shortly after 1 a.m., News 3 reported.

Police say speed and alcohol were factors.

The southbound lanes of Park Street in that area were closed for four hours while 
police investigated.

The victim's name hasn't been released, pending notification of family.
