Back when the Taxi 2000 company was starting up, Madison was one of the cities they considered as a home base.  There was a lot of excitement around town, as I recall, about this technology and about the possibility of a prototype system in Madison.
 
Evidently they went elsewhere.  I assumed they had evaporated, like most such startups, but it looks like they're making progress.
 
I don't know if this system would be feasible in Madison, but if it is, it might be attractive to people who aren't willing to wait half an hour for the next train or bus or streetcar.
 
Of course, they'll need to redesign the cars to accommodate bikes.
