As reported earlier, an official access path to the SW Path has
been completed through the Odana Hills Golf Course parking lot. The grand
opening of the access path is scheduled rain or shine for Friday, Sept. 26,
2003, from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Odana Hills Golf Course 4635 Odana Rd.
Refreshments are provided.
In another development from my neighborhood, Odana Rd. will be
getting traffic calming between Midvale Blvd. and Segoe Rd. The Midvale
Heights neighborhood has complained about speeding on Odana Rd. and that
Odana is being driven as four lanes even though it is officially two lanes
because it is so wide. Since this section of Odana Rd. was up for
resurfacing this year, an opportunity was provided to incorporate the
following traffic calming into the resurfacing project: Stripe a bike lane
and parking lane on each side of the road to narrow the field of view so as
to hopefully slow drivers down; add pedestrian refuge islands at the
intersections with Dearholt Rd., Wedgewood Way, and Charles Lane (the
street across from the Odana Hills Golf Course entrance and the access path
for the SW path); a mid-block island between Wedgewood Way and Hilltop Dr;
new bus pads; and new sidewalks on the golf course side (south side of the
street) to two of the bus pads (one old & one new). The resurfacing
project is underway now and should be completed by mid-October. This
project will make it easier to cross Odana Rd. to get to the Odana Hills
golf course access path for the SW path.
