BTW, the Parks Commission has become decidedly less motor-friendly of late. The chair is a dedicated bicyclist, and others appear to be sympathetic to the more silent users of our parks. For instance, at the urging of several folks in our neighborhood, we got them to ban parking on the grass.
But the emphasis here is that *several folks showed up* to advocate for the ban. A certain Parks Commissioner just so happens to be on our neighborhood council and is pretty persuasive in getting us to show up to important things like this (I'll refrain from saying strong-armed, but....). However, since this is not something that directly affects our neighborhood, that level of persuasion won't quite work here.
So, weste sideres, here's your chance to do something we used to just muse about back in the early days of poste-moderne bike advocacy....

They could limit the drive to bikes, peds, skate boards, roller skates, and cars with "collector" plates. Now that would be a pleasure drive.
I might come up with a more practical idea another day.
