Use the middle of the lane as the law allows in this situation, and naturally make sure your brakes are in good order! Other traffic will simply have to wait...but if they were as smart as association with UW would imply, they would realize that riding their own bikes to campus, or bringing them on a bus, is a truly well-educated move.
