BFW does a pretty good job of listing their accomplishments on behalf of local and statewide bicycling advocacy in their periodical.
BTA isn't quite so pointed about it. But BTA members and steering committee members (150% volunteer) have achieved quite a lot over the years, including pitching in to build the statewide bike advocacy organization--back when mega-corporations (including those in the bike industry) scoffed at bike advocacy efforts. More recently, BTA steering committee members have done such notable work on behalf of bicycling in this community that at least five of them (maybe more, but I lost count) are on various city and county committees. General members have been recognized for their work on behalf of better biking and put on city and county committees as well.
I'll add that two critical components of the growth of bike advocacy here, statewide, and even worldwide were started by and continue to be maintained by BTA:
-Bikies listserv
and
-The Bicycling Community Page
Without these two resources, I doubt we'd have the statewide org we now have. I doubt we'd have the progress in physical bike infrastructure we have now.
These online resources were started by Scott Rose (I think Joe King was in on the early development as well) back when the web was something that appeared in an untidy corner of your basement. It was then further developed by Joe King and Darin Burleigh.
We all owe these guys a huge thanks for keeping us in contact online!
Meanwhile, if someone would like to help BTA ramp up a PR machine to get the word out about the work of BTA and its members, those efforts would be most welcome!
