Sorry, I have no maps at this time. There are survey stakes in the ground that mark
out the path if you are interested. The County has really taken the lead about dealing
with this issue. We (Dane County Parks staff and Dana and I are currently sitting
back to see what surfaces from our initial action.

Where is this proposed road exactly? West of Fish Hatch, through that forest. East
of Fish Hatch the bike path is on a road, right? So, where is this? Why would they
want a road through the forest when they can go on Fish Hatchery? It's only a couple
of hundred feet, isn't it? Maybe a map would help.

I asked Brad Bates, manager of the trail, about it and he responded:

The DNR and Dane County Parks have met several times and shuffled some letters back
and forth over the past few months with the City of Fitchburg to express our concerns
about the proposed "at grade" crossing. We have discussed options such as a bike path
bridge or culvert that would provide an interrupted travel for the trail users. Some
"Higher Officials" within the County have stepped in to help and we are waiting to
hear what the alternative plans are from Fitchburg. I would imagine that any type of
support from the community would be beneficial in providing a safe layout for the
proposed road and the existing Capital City State Trail.
