It is interesting. I heard about it only yesterday via
the international bicycle messengers list and by late
afternoon I was getting emails from various sources
with links to videos demonstrating the pen technique
and posts on varius message boards. I found it hard to
believe that this was a barnd spanking new discovery
and equally hard to believe that... well, you said it
yourself.
You raise another good point about a potential recal.
If there is a recal, where does the line get drawn.
Should shimano have issued a recal on BioPace
chainrings when they were finaly forced to admit that
they were a failure and discontinued them? I suppose
it's a question of the obselecense of a given design
versus a defect inherent in a given design or
manufacturing run. Time will tell but I have become
convinced that there will not be a recal.
