hey folks, this is a plea for donations to help with travel costs to get back to NYC for court dates associated with the Republican National Convention last month.
there were 5 Madison people arrested in NYC for riding bicycles during the week of protest activities. some of us have up to 6 charges, including second degree misdemeanors like "reckless endangerment," "obstructing governmental administration" and more. most bikers were arrested without warning or proper procedures, many were struck by undercover police on unmarked scooters, and all of us were illegaly detained at the infamous Pier 57 detention facility...straight out of some sci-fi script about an unlivable future. the latest news is that while hundreds of protestors have had their cases dismissed (as reported on democracy now yesterday), many bikers are actually having additional charges tacked on at their first court appearances.
