East Mifflin from Ingersoll up to the square was
nicely cleared by 7:00am this morning. The only areas
where the far sides of the street were poorly cleared
were areas where cars had been parked overnight. State
street was also a marked improvement from yesterday.
I've always felt that the main problems with biking
after a heavy snow fall is not the snow, but the ruts
in the snow caused by big heavy cars with wide tires
and the heaps in the bike lanes and on the edges of
the streets caused by the combination of plows and
parked cars. Having said that, I feel like the city
did a pretty fair job of taking care of things
downtown and near-east in a 24 hour period considering
the accumulation.
