Hello Bikies Friends

I'm pleased to announce that the run pointing
positions are completely updated for the 2005 race.

The race date is Sunday, September 11, 2005

Run pointing shifts begin as early at 12:30 and end as
late as midnight.  Shifts are designed to be 3-4.5 hrs long.

New this year, but returning since the inaugural event, positions available at Camp Randall where the athletes will enter the stadium on the Breese Terrace side of the Field House, run a lap and then exit at the same stadium entry point.

Feel free to bring anything with you that makes your corner pointing fun.  Also, plan to bring things for your own comfort.  Chair (but stand when the athletes are in view - they've been going since 6am, they deserve a standing directional indication and cheering), a water bottle or two, a snack, even a cooler, sunscreen (for day shifts), maybe even bug repellent, flashlights or blinkers making you visible too.  Making a positive sign to flank you is also a great idea.

The volunteer page is at

Read the disclaimer, agree and enter. Select Ironman, Run, Pointing. I suggest mapquesting an intersection if you're not familiar.

It's you're opportunity now to get your favorite spot by signing up now.
Don't forget, if there are no times indicated or you don't see the time indicated for a shift you'd like to do at a particular intersection, that means it is NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
That's why I'm taking the time to contact you now.

Other important dates:
Saturday September 10th, Volunteer Orientation, we'll meet, get maps, t-shirts and specific instructions.  At the Monona Terrace, Exhibition Hall.

Tuesday September 13th, Volunteer thank you party.  Place and time TBA, but I'll have that info later.

That's the long and short of it. I look forward to see your signup soon.

Please feel to contact me directly through this special ironman email address with Ironman Run Pointing in the subject.
I look forward to many new members to my run pointing team!  Be one of more than 300!

Thanks y'all

Like last year, you'll see me on a bike with a trailer, visiting every corner.  This year it's a
purple mountain bike.

Another note, the run course will be essentially the same as last year with some revisions to campus due to construction, try this link
http://www.ironmanwisconsin.com/run.html
copy the file soon if desired.  It will probably be deleted soon.
