(I'm, sorry if this topic has already been broached,
if lamentations have already been made, and I missed
the boat; I've been busy and not keeping up with the
list.)

Does anyone detest the new bike lanes on the square? I
do. Does anyone feel less safe now, in the lanes, than
they did before? I do. Does anyone feel as though the
presence of the lane also increases the likelyhood
that motorists will be upset with cyclists who choose
to ride within, and up to speed with, the flow of
traffic in the traffic lane? I do, and have
experienced as much.

On a not entirely unrelated note, I have to say I'm a
little confused at all the relatively sudden concern
over parking on the square. What I mean to say is that
how is it that those of us who are so concerned about
the parking issue didn't see it comming a mile way the
minute they started talking "arts district"? I really
don't take the whole thing as personaly as I'm about
to make it sound, but I find it less than amusing that
when some us were clamoring against the completely
ill-advised and exclusionary plans for our over-budget
and, incidently, exclusionary "arts district" so many
people were filled with glassy-eyed aticipation of the
new, squeaky clean, caucasion dream of a downtown that
would come with it instead of realizing all of the
trappings that would also be included in the deal.
Trappings, for instance, like not-so-ideal creation of
more parking spaces, widening of roadways, and well,
you get the point -whether you agree with it or not.
