I recall some number of years ago at the beginning of Bike to Work Week,
a MGE employee had an electric assist bicycle to demonstrate. I tried
it and was not impressed--it was heavy (probably mostly because of the
battery) and clumsy (possibly in part because the frame was so small for
me, YMMV), and I wasn't convinced that the extra power boost was
necessary anyway. Would that also require a valid MV operator's
licence? From a legal perspective, how (if at all) would the two be
different? Just wondering. (Besides, at 14 mi/hr with the motor, it's
slower than a pedalled bicycle, so why bother? ;-) )
