I think the volume of traffic on the SW path is (disappointingly) too
small to warrant a stop sign for mv traffic on Glenway; plus the more
cars stop on their merry way, the more fuel they burn....Slowing vehicles
down and providing a roomy center island refuge would make for a much
safer crossing...

Since when is this a question of numbers? Besides, there is PLENTY of
bike, pedestrian, roller blade, kids, etc., to warrant cars stopping and
looking before proceeding. I've seen stops signs in Madison on streets
that are used much less in terms of number of people.

The fuel argument is really off-base. Using that logic, we should get
rid of most of the stop signs in Madison?

I guess I was right in the first place on this. It's going to take a
fatality or two for the city to seriously consider removing the obvious
safety hazards with the SW bike corridor on Glenway, Odana and
Commonweath. There should be a pedestrian controlled stop light at
intersection of Midvale. The rest should have 4-way stops. That's what
I argued before the path was built and it's still obvious to me that they
would save lives.

The city doesn't care about the amount of fuel burned by motor vehicles
in this city. If they did they would have been doing more to encourage
less driving all along.
