Not to pick a squabble with anybody in the "law and order or government
business of Madison", I say here here to the piece just entered by
Robert F. Nagel. I have always been a libertarian and a believer that
interventionist actions against human nature are most usually
counterproductive. Certainly our twelve years of "prohibition" should
have indicated that. But intervention against "anti-social" human
actions is possibly the biggest "business" in the industrialized world.
Neolithic humans were probably little different from their descendants,
today. I would expect that revenge and vengeance were key to their
concepts of "justice" also. When all is done and said, safety is
largely still an individual "self-protection." We have to become
defensive drivers, bikers, walkers. . . etc.
