Work begins today on bike access along Stoughton Road under
the Beltline. Included work:

* Bike lanes/paved shoulders thru the interchange (Voges to
Broadway). Voges leads to Terminal Drive or Triangle Street.
* 10-foot path along the east side of Stoughton Road from South
Dutch Mill (Triangle Street extended) to Broadway.
* 10-foot path along the south side of Broadway from Stoughton
Road to the Dutch Mill Park and Ride.
* 10-path from the Terminal Drive cul-de-sac to Larson Beach
Road - all in McFarland.

The first two improvements will give bikers a choice on how to travel
along Stoughton - depending upon confidence level.

The City of Madison will maintain the paths that are within the
Madison city limits.

A recent site review out there made me realize that there still
remains a "mini-Missing Link". All of Broadway west of Stoughton
Road has bike lanes and all of Femrite from East Broadway to
Marsh Road/Agriculture Drive has bike lanes with paved shoulders
beyond that point. The "mini-Missing Link" is East Broadway from
Stoughton Road to Femrite. This 1/4 mile section has no bike
lanes. We should get it on the needs list.
