Hi Bikies Friends
I still need 250 volunteers to point the Ironman marathon runners in the right direction and control traffic and/or pedestrians at intersections.
Some people think run pointing is an awful job, but my 3 years of experiences prooves otherwise. The athletes really appreciate having you out there to help them. Especially if it's during the late shift. These people have been swimming, biking and running all day, your smiling face is what they need to continue and become an Ironman!
The IronmanWisconsin.com website will stop accepting online registrations through Wednesday the 7th at midnight. You have until then to pick your own corner. If you decide later that you have time on Sunday the 11th for a shift like 12:30p-4p, 3:45p-8p or 7:45p-12a, stop down to the volunteer tent on Wilson, West of the Monona Terrace. If you have time on Saturday am, the volunteer orientation meeting is at 8 am in the Exhibition hall at the MT. I can assign you a corner and provide your shirt, map and other instructions at that time.
In addition, I'll be riding my purple mountain bike with nomad trailer around the run course all day on Sunday, so I'll see you at least once if not twice to see how you are.
Thanks to everyone who helped out at the last minute last year. It's time to help out again.
Not only to you receive a groovy orange t-shirt, but you're invited to the volunteer banquet on Monday at 6 pm at the Exhibition Hall too.
Thanks!!!
See you soon
