Yeah! What a thrill it was this morning to no longer have to ride from the Hwy 51 entrances/exits to Dempsey, then turn and cross that hellish, bumpy snarl of rail to get to the Isthmus portion of the bike path. Many thanks to everyone who helped make it happen--from Larry Nelson's vision of something other than busted up concrete and invasive plants to American Family's generosity. This small stretch is a sorely needed safety net. It was gratifiying to see people starting to use it, including a guy who looked like he was on his way to work, and a couple out for a joyride.
And thanks to Mayor Dave's crew for trusting me with a sharp object to cut the ribbon--within one foot of the Mayor. I am deeply honored. If they knew I was a lefty, they might have thought twice on that one.
