The votes are in and Greenbush has it by a wide margin. Thanks to everyone
that voted. Here is the list of those names that got more than one vote:
Greenbush 48 votes
South Campus 7 votes
Link or The Link 5 votes
Roundhouse 5 votes
Southwest 3 votes
Rail Yard 2 votes
Missing Link 2 votes
There were also 3 votes for names that included Badger, e.g. Badger
Way. And 8 votes to name the path after a person, which would be
problematic because of the large number of people that, over the years,
contributed to making the Missing Link happen.
Back in early September during discussion of the East Isthmus Path, Larry
Nelson suggested that "there are opportunities to name segments of the
Capital City Trail", as a way of assigning local to segments of that
path. I suggest the same be done for the new section. Let's make it a
locally named segment of what is now called the Southwest Path and may
eventually be called the Badger Trail.
So, I am asking that the Greenbush Path be implemented as a named segment
or "branch" within the larger Southwest or Badger Trail. Maybe the
"Greenbush Leg" or "Greenbush Link" would work better than "Greenbush Path"
in this context.
If you support this please contact city engineering and express your
support. My understanding is that by default engineering will sign it
"Southwest Path" unless there is signicant input. The e-mails would be:
"Larry Nelson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
and
"Anthony Fernandez" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Contacting your local alder asking them to express their support to city
engineering would also help, particularly if you live in a district through
which the new path traverses. i.e. districts 4, 5 & 8. see:
