My understanding is: 1) While some of the early proposals to add parking to the Capitol Square did mention elimination &/or relocation of some bus stops, under the adopted plan no bus stops are being eliminated on the Capitol Square; 2) Some of the bus shelters are planned to be replaced with benches only, no shelter (I think these are the stops on N Pinckney - in front of L'Etoile; N Carroll St - in front of the Historical Society Museum; and E Main St - near Walgreens); 3) The changes in (2) would have been made regardless of the parking on the Square issue since they would have been evaluated and recommended as part of the independent bus shelter replacement project. Remember that as State Street is being rebuilt all the old shelters are being taken out with some of them being replaced and some stops now only have benches without a shelter. The same is happening on the Square.
