More on the films: This month we're taking a break from pedal-powered drama to watch some pure action documentaries.  No plots, no subtitles – just flicks of people doing ill-advised things on bicycles.  What more could you ask for?  Red Light Go (2002) follows a group of hardcore New York City bike messengers. We get to know them through interviews and then ride with them and their fellow couriers in a series of harrowing races through the streets of New York City. The film culminates with the annual and much anticipated Halloween night Alleycat, a long and brutal race through rush-hour traffic.  Monkey See, Monkey Do (with Hans "No Way" Rey) is a straight-up ride flick in which the mountain-biking lunatic of the title travels to the exotic and punishing islands of Hawaii, where he tries repeatedly to kill himself (or at least trash his bike).  Magnificent!

What's this all about, anyway?: Because it's actually winter in Wisconsin again and none of us are getting out on our bikes as much as we'd like.  So what's the next best thing to riding in the slushy, sandy, salty, icy, bitter cold?  That's right – getting together with other frustrated bikers to drink a few beers and watch movies about biking in a cozy warm bike shop.

Other questions or have ideas for future film nights?: Call Jeff at Revolution Cycles (244-0009).
