More on the films: This month's "feature film" will be The Bicyclist (Bicycleran): Iran, 1987.  The wife of Nasim, an Afghan immigrant in Iran, is gravely ill. He needs money to pay for her care, but his day labor digging wells does not pay enough. A friend connects Nasim to a two-bit promoter who sells tickets to watch Nasim ride a bicycle continuously for a week. The promoter brings in sick and aged spectators, haranguing them to find hope in Nasim's strength. Local officials believe this may be a plot and Nasim may be a spy; they try to sabotage him as do those who bet he won't finish the week.

There will also be the usual pre-feature strangeness – each month we scavenge the universe of short films about biking to bring you psychedelic '60s bike safety films, animated biking shorts (not the padded kind), NYC bike courier races filmed with helmet-cams... the strange world of bike culture on the big screen.

What's this all about, anyway?: OK, so winter is almost over.  But none of us are getting out on our bikes as much as we'd like.  This will be changing soon, but in the mean time, the next best thing is getting together with other frustrated bikers to drink a few beers, complain about the crappy spring weather, and watch movies about biking in a cozy warm bike shop.
