I just got this at my home address, and wanted to pass it on to anyone who lives, works, shops, visits, or bikes through Fitchburg. (My guess is, that would cover most people on this list in one category or another.)

Also, I have left a partial header and a web link at the end for the Madison Bus Advocates Alliance. This is a fairly new group, and might be of interest to Bikies as well. They are just getting off the ground, but are doing a great job of organizing and speaking for bus users (and possibly other transit users if that ever happens.) There are plenty of overlapping issues with regard to transportation issues, so some on this list may want to join up.

The Transportation and Transit Commission (TTC) of Fitchburg is
currently working on the Transportation Element of our Comprehensive
Plan, together with the Planning Department and the Transportation
Project Engineer. The purpose of the Transportation Element is to be a
guiding document for improving the existing system, accommodating and
encouraging multi-modal transportation choices, managing traffic growth
throughout Fitchburg, and planning for a long-range transportation
network throughout the city.

Currently, the TTC is in the process of collecting information from the
various stakeholders of the Fitchburg transportation system. One of the
stakeholders identified by the TTC includes area bicycling clubs and
transit advocates. We know many of you are not focused only on
Fitchburg, but many trips (particularly recreational bicycle and
commuter automobile traffic) pass through our city. We would like your
input on

   * How do you or your groups member's use Fitchburg's transportation
     system?

   * What is most valuable to you about the transportation system?

   * What transportation needs are not being met by the existing
     system?

   * Do you have any general comments or suggestions regarding
Fitchburg's bike, pedestrian, automobile, or transit services?

The TTC would appreciate any input you have on these questions, from
both yourselves and members of your organizations. Questions and
comments should be directed towards the staff contact person for TTC and
Transportation Project Engineer:

   Ahnaray Bizjak

   270-4262.

Please also note that the TTC meets on a regular basis on the second
Thursday of the month starting at 6:30pm. Meetings are typically held
in the Meeting Room at Fitchburg City Hall. Residents are welcomed and
encouraged to attend these meetings.

We hope that you will consider attending a meeting or providing your
input on the development of the transportation element of Fitchburg's
Comprehensive Plan.

Thank you.
