More on the films: Changing up our theme a bit, we've decided to run a series of "evil car" movies.  Our first installment will be this month's "feature film," Death Race 2000, U.S., 1975.  A cult classic directed by wacko film-maker Paul Bartel, and starring David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone.  The most popular U.S. sporting event of the year 2000 is a lethal cross-country car race with a twist: to score the points they need to win the race, the drivers must run down pedestrians every chance they get.  The race is orchestrated by an Orwellian government that maintains its rule by distracting and dis-informing the populace, but Frankenstein (David Carradine), the greatest of the Death Race drivers, gets caught up in a conspiracy seeking to stop the race and overthrow Mr. President.  For more, check out http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072856/

And if that's not weird enough, there will also be the usual pre-feature strangeness.  Each month we scavenge the universe of short films about biking to bring you psychedelic '60s bike safety films, animated biking shorts (not the padded kind), NYC bike courier races filmed with helmet-cams... the strange world of bike culture on the big screen.

What's this all about, anyway?: OK, so winter is really over now and we can all get out on our bikes again.  But we had so much fun doing this over the winter that we thought we'd just keep running films until you all stop showing up.
